Waiting in Certainty

Waiting

This month we are working with the energy of manifesting. Bringing our dream life, the one full of meaning, purpose, joy and prosperity, into form. We’ve talked about the first three steps: getting clear on what you want, claiming your right to have that desire and finally the process of sending the energetic blueprint of to the big “order department in the sky”.  The fourth and final step is one of the harder steps- waiting in certainty.

That’s the rub. Waiting. Not checking in on your mock-up. Not reordering, just waiting in a state of quiet anticipation. Of course you still do the legwork required – such as sending out resumes or pre-planning your move, but you do so with an attitude of confidence and trust.

Waiting is not anticipating what is to come, nor is it wondering if your mock-up was done correctly. Waiting in certainty is living in the present moment. Being mindful of where you are right now. Waiting is neither past nor present, it’s NOW—in big capital letters. You may have heard about mindfulness and even tried it to some degree in your life. You may have become confused about what constitutes “present moment” or just given up because your mind kept wandering to your to-do list or a future event.

Mindfulness is being present with your thoughts and feelings in the current moment. It is being aware of your body, your thoughts, your feelings, the sensations, the smells, the noises, yet not being distracted by them or judging them. It’s not as easy as it sounds, as you’ll see in the following exercise.

Mindfulness Experience
  1. As you read this page, notice your body. Read the words and feel the sensations in your arms, your legs, your eyes. Right now, that is all. Just feel the sensations and keep reading.
  2. Feel your eyes move across the page. Check to see if you are restless as you try to do two things at once, paying attention to the written words on this page and the sensations in your body. Maybe you become distracted by the sensations around you and miss a few words of text.

Mindfulness is a skill, like learning to ride a bike. Thankfully, you have already acquired some training wheels: what I call the center of head. When you are in the center of your head and present in your body, you are in the present moment. Your thoughts, your feelings, your intuition, are all emanating from one spot: the center of your head. You are in present time, acting with full potency. Your energy is not scattered in the past, nor is it over in a friend’s aura or rethinking your most current mock-up. You are in your body, and your Spirit is in the driver’s seat. Coming from this space of awareness, you are able to discern your thoughts from those of your neighbor. You are able to feel into your body and sense whether a feeling is truly aligned with your Spirit. You are present.
