It’s About The Be-ing, Not The Do-ing

20 August, 2013 — Posted in: Choosing Your Own Reality Leave a Comment

https://www.dreamstime.com/-image21759281So may of us are all about the do-ing of life, but what if the be-ing of life is what leads us to find our true selves?

Today, take a walk in nature, breathe in the last of summer and just BE.  Be grateful, be content, be at peace.  Be present in your day.  Be-come who you truly are, not what others think you should be.

Daily meditation offers us an opportunity to quiet the outside voices, the outside noises of other peoples’ thoughts and feelings, and tune into our inner knowingness, our inner wisdom.  When we meditate, our body relaxes and our mind quiets.  It is here that we will find the answers to who we really are and how to live a life on purpose.  Within this space of stillness, we come to know our own true nature.

There are many ways to meditate.  Some people sit quietly and repeat a mantra, in a rhythmic fashion, finding stillness in the gap, that space between thoughts.  Others take long mesmerizing walks, allowing their thoughts to drift away as their minds fill with clouds of stillness and peace.  As the mind quiets and thoughts cease to matter, we come to a place of knowingness.  We begin to communicate with our Spirit, our Highest and Best Self.

During this time of inner stillness, you get in touch with who you truly are.  And when you do, magic happens!

No Shoulds Allowed!

11 August, 2013 — Posted in: Choosing Your Own Reality Leave a Comment

innercriticToday my intent is to stay away from the “shoulds” of life.  It seems that wherever I go and whatever I do, someone is offering me advice on the way I should be and what I should do.  Or to be more specific, that someone is my inner critic.  The voice inside of my head is telling me that I should take one last hike before the weather turns and that I should check in with my friend before she leaves town.  Maybe in your life your inner critic is telling you that you should exercise today, or be with family, or put on a great end-of-summer party.  It’s incessant – this voice of “should”.

But today I am doing things my own way.  I am writing, I am with family and friends.  I am working, but I am not allowing the shoulds to interfere.

“I am the boss of me!”  I say to my inner critic.  I know that there’s a message behind this loud voice, so I stop resisting and listen for a moment.  Today my inner critic is taking the form of Perfectionist Patty, the name I’ve given to this particular tone of chatter.

I stop what I’m doing for a moment, close my eyes and imagine the should statement of Perfectionist Patty visualizing before my eyes as a bubble of colorful energy.  Because that’s all a thought is – a big colorful bubble of energy.  I “see” that energy bubble in front of me.  I watch as it fills in with the colors of this particular should.

Today my should statement is a bubble gum pink energy.  I know that this color represents perfectionism to me.  As I imagine this bubble in front of my closed eyes, I acknowledge that I’m trying to do everything perfectly today.  And that energy – that perfectionism energy – is the should of “I should do it like the others are doing it”.  But that’s not a true thought of what I want to do-that’s a thought of what others think I should do.

Now that I see this energy, and know that it’s not representative of my true nature,  I can get rid of it!  It’s really that easy.  The first step is to become aware of the energy that is causing you discomfort, the second step is to get rid of it!

How do I do that?

In my book, Tame the Inner Critic Find Peace and Contentment to Live Your Life On Purpose, I offer specific exercises and meditations on taming this beast of a voice.  So today, and everyday, I’m following my own advice.  I imagine a big giant magnet out in front of my closed eyes and I ask this magnet to draw out all the perfectionist energy from my body and aura.  I imagine all that bubble gum pink color leaving my body as it’s drawn into the magnet.

Once all the energy is in the magnet, I imagine the magnet exploding in front of me.  I see all that energy dissipate as tiny particles of energy dust.  I know that the perfectionism of this particular should has been removed from my aura and is heading back down to the center of the earth.

I take a couple of deep breaths, knowing that the shoulds have been cleared for now.  Now I can return to what I’m doing in a state of peace and tranquility.  I will do things my own way – and speak with my own authentic voice – not the voice of others.

Try this the next time one of your own should statements gets in your way.

First You Must Know What You Want

20 March, 2012 — Posted in: Choosing Your Own Reality 2 Comments

Do you know what you want? Is it crystal clear and bright in your mind? Can you smell it? Taste it? Hear it? Feelings have power. Lots of power. The Universe will bring you what you ask for; you just have to be clear, concise and specific.

Much has been written about visualizing what you want; attracting things and ways of being into your Universe via the Law of Attraction. We know that like attracts like. But what we are not as clear on, is that ALL thoughts attract like thoughts. How many thoughts do you have in one day? In one hour? Think about that. All thoughts are powerful, but some are more powerful than others. Those are the ones that we attach the feelings to. If we feel it, sense it, see it, then we can manifest it.

I’ll give you an example. In my physic training program we work with mock-ups. It’s a process that we go through to manifest our dreams and desires. First and foremost, the task is to become clear on what you want. We know that the Universe will deliver our “package” to us, just like the postman. So what kind of package do you want this year? Do you want to have a new car? Can you describe it? What’s important to you? Does it need to be a 4 wheel drive vehicle, seating at least 6? Is the color important to you?

Or, are you thinking of a sports car, all shiny and new, with leather seats and a 300 hp engine with that wonderful throaty sound? Can’t decide between the two? Well if you can’t decide, then the Universe isn’t going to decide for you. The universe will throw up its hands and look down on you saying, “Geez, make up your mind will you? I’d be happy to give you what you ask for, but I gotta know what that is!!”

It’s the multiple requests that you send out, either consciously or unconsciously, that get in the way of manifesting what you desire. So get clear. Write it down. Make a list of what’s important. If the color of that new car isn’t that important leave it out of the request. That gives the Universe more flexibility in supplying you with your dream car in the time frame you are considering.

Once we are clear about what you want then do your mock-up. Sit in meditation. In front of you see a bubble representing the item you want, in this case, a new car. See the car in front of you. If you decided on the sports car, then see it. Is it a convertible? Smell the leather seats. See yourself sitting in the driver’s seat, one hand on the wheel, the other hand on the gear shift. Feel your left foot push in on the clutch, while the right hand shifts gear. Feel the car move into another gear as it accelerates down the road.

Feelings are important. Make this as real as you can. Once you have everything in your bubble, ground it to the planet. Drain out all doubt energies, all uncertainty. Fill your bubble with havingness, gratitude, happiness, or whatever emotion will amplify your visualization.

Now, ask the Supreme Being to bless your bubble. See a gold beam of light come down and surround your bubble. On the outside of your bubble write the words, “this or something better!” Unground it and make a duplicate of your bubble. Send the original off to the edge of the Universe. Grab the duplicate bubble and pull it into your fourth chakra, your affinity center. You want to be able to have the feelings associated with your mock-up right now. Feel the certainty, feel the appreciation, feel your request resonating inside of your body. You can “have” it now psychically, just as you will have it later physically.

Now, here’s the hard part. After you are done with your mock-up, go about your day, your week, your life. Expect with certainty, but do not unconsciously mock up a competing wish. Don’t doubt yourself. Don’t say, “Gee do I really want that sports car? Wouldn’t at four-wheel drive be more practical?”

Wait in certainty. Surround yourself with positive intentions that your wish, your mock-up is on its way. Work on your ability to “have” your intention. Know that it will come to you. Rest easy, go about your life. And when it comes to you, when that sports car is a reality, and you are driving it with ease and excitement, remember to offer up some gratitude. Validate that you are a powerful manifestor. Rest in that knowledge.

You can have anything you want in life. The world is an abundant place. You just need to ask with certainty, and wait in appreciation.
