Money Energy & Your Life of Joy

10 May, 2015 — Posted in: All About Chakras, Living In Joy Leave a Comment

rp_5928728030_a5cdca2890_z-300x200.jpg

This month we are looking at the role our chakras play in helping us live a life full of joy and inner peace. Chakras are wheels of energy that connect our energetic body to our physical body. When our chakras are operating at optimum levels, the impulses of energy they send to our physical body (via our hormones) help us feel calm and centered.

The first chakra, located at the base of our spine, is the energy center associated with safety and security. Often called the root chakra, this chakra flares open when it senses danger, sending adrenaline coursing through our bodies. Although the energy of money actually belongs in your third chakra – your power center, fears about lack of money often make a home in your first chakra.

Of course, it’s hard to live a life full of joy and inner peace if your first chakra flares open in panic and fear every time you open your checkbook!

Let us move this energy of money out of your first chakra—your survival space—and move it up to your third chakra, your power center. With the energy of money residing in your power center, you will be able to harness this force to work for you to help you manifest the life of your dreams.

Exercise 9.4: Moving Your Money Energy
1.    Close your eyes, and be in the center of your head. Breathe, and just be. Check your grounding cord and see your aura filled with your energy, no one else’s. Bring your attention to your first chakra. Now, visualize a rose in front of your first chakra. See the rose. Ask the rose to call to it all your feelings and emotions around the scarcity of money. See fear leave your first chakra and head into the rose. Watch as panic, scarcity, and lack enter that rose. Feel into your body, at the base of your spine. Open up that chakra, and allow all foreign energies, all thoughts and feelings that have come to you from your parents or others to leave this space. Feel all the harsh judgments about how much money is too much leave your space. Once you feel all the emotions calm, and the colors diminish, blow up that rose. See it explode in front of you. Feel your first chakra, at the base of your spine, being relaxed and clear.
2.    Now let’s move the remaining money energy—that energy that is yours and no one else’s—to its rightful place, the third chakra. See another rose in front of you, and have this rose pull out all the remaining money energy from your first chakra. See the colors as they move into this rose. When the rose is filled, intend for that rose to move from your first chakra to the space in front of your third chakra. See the rose floating around your solar plexus, a little bit higher than your belly button. Now pull that rose into your third chakra. Feel the colors of money merge with the other energies in your third. This is your power center. Feel a surge of power throughout your body as your third chakra lights up with this added fuel.
3.    Know that your money energy is where it belongs and that you have harnessed its power for your use. When you feel complete, open your eyes. Your money energy is now available to fuel your dreams. You may repeat this exercise if you begin to notice thoughts of judgment or panic around money. Money is a neutral tool that is all.

The way I view money has changed over the years. As I’ve come to terms with my inner critic’s voice, I’ve developed a level of self-confidence and self-worth in all areas of my life. I know that how I view money is a microcosm of how I view myself.

I am worthy. I am worthy of having money, and I am worthy of living a life full of joy and inner contentment. So are you.

tame-inner-criticThe exercise Moving Your Money Energy is excerpted from my book, Tame Your Inner Critic Find Peace & Contentment to Live Your Life on Purpose.  In fact the book includes a full chapter on the energy of money! I hope you will consider adding it to your must-read list. And I hope you will share this post with a friend or two.  Many blessings to you –

The First Chakra in Joy

5 May, 2015 — Posted in: All About Chakras, Living In Joy Leave a Comment

chakraclearing1Last month we looked at the energy of joy and how to live your life on purpose every day. We discovered that joy is not something you strive for or find in the outside world of activities and events. Joy develops on the inside of you. It’s a feeling of the soul.

Yes, we are soulful beings inhabiting this vehicle called a body. Because of this, we need to care and tend to our essence, our Spirit-self. That’s what makes us happy – when our body and Spirit are working in unison. That’s when our soul is full of joy, peace, and contentment.

So how do we accomplish this? We can’t see our energetic body, so it’s sometimes difficult to understand its messaging. This is where chakras, the endocrine system, and hormones come in – they are the link between the energetic body and the physical body.

I think of chakras as energetic way stations connecting our Spirit to our physical body. Chakras are wheels of spinning energy located along the central axis of your body that house the energy of your thoughts and feelings. These bands of vibrating energy connect your spirit body to your physical form. They provide information to your endocrine system, regulating your hormones and balancing the energy within your body.

The ancients were well aware of the chakra system and wrote about life force flowing throughout the body. (In Chinese medicine, life force is called chi; in Sanskrit it is prana.) Western medicine is slowly coming to grips with the idea that energy flows through the body and affects our emotions and physical health.

There are seven major chakras housed inside our physical body, and they each have a part to play in manifesting a life full of happiness and inner contentedness. If your chakras are full of other peoples’ energies, then you might be living the life of someone else’s dreams. If your life is similar to your siblings, or if you drive the same type of car as a neighbor, it may be that their energy is in your chakras, blinding you to what would bring you (not them) joy.

The First Chakra: Survival

The first chakra, located at the base of the spine in our center of safety and security. This energy center is associated with the adrenal gland and the hormone adrenaline. We all know that feeling of flight or fight, when adrenaline courses through the body alerting us to potential danger.

When this happens, the chakra flares open, and we might feel this as a physical sensation in the base of the spine or tailbone area. We are figuratively on fire from all the adrenaline causing us to go into a heightened state of alert; which is great if there’s an actual emergency. But in today’s world, especially here in America, we seem to be in a constant state of hyper-vigilance. Our system is on full alert all day every day, overtaxing our adrenal glands and sometimes sending us into states of adrenal fatigue and illness. It’s very hard to be full of inner peace and gratitude when we are on hyper-alert.

Breath Work – The First Chakra in Joy

One of the easiest ways to calm your adrenals is to use your breath to calm your first chakra. Most of us take very shallow breaths, especially during times of stress. But if we become conscious of how we breathe and choose to take deep breaths, we bring more air into our bodies, slowing our heart rate. This in turn lowers our blood pressure and allows our bodies to relax and our adrenals to calm. The next time you are in a stressful situation become conscious of your breaths. Try to make your exhalation twice as long as your inhalation. Consciously fill your belly with air first, then your chest. Exhale through your mouth with your lips slightly parted. As you breathe this way your heart rate will slow and your blood pressure will soften.

In the coming posts, we will work with the other chakras in manifesting the life of joy, but bringing our first chakra back from the brink of overload is a huge help in living a life of joy.

First Chakra Prayer of Gratitude

Each of our chakras play an important part in manifesting a life of prosperity and ease.  When the chakras work in harmony with each other, they send out strong vibrational signals to the Universe.  These signals call back to you energies of the same vibrational family.  If you are aligned with thoughts, feelings of prosperity, you will attract back to you more energies of that same family.  So the trick is to align all seven of your major chakras into a harmonic – a symphony of vibrations resonating with the energy of prosperity.

This takes practice.  And it takes more than just thinking happy thoughts or saying mantras or affirmations.  Those help of course, but it’s important to also remove any energy blocks that are mucking up your system.

One of the major energy blocks is that of lack. Sometimes we think that others must have less for us to have more.  This is a zero sum game consciousness.  In order for me to win – you must lose.

When you hoard things (like money or love) because you fear losing what you do have, this blocks your ability to receive (more money, higher forms of love).  Energy is meant to flow, in and out, in and out.  If you block this flow, either because of fear or distrust in the Universe’s ability to provide, you are also blocking the inflow of prosperity.

Become aware of your thoughts of lack – “I don’t have enough.”  “I can’t afford it.”  Literally replace those thoughts with thoughts of abundance and prosperity.  “There is enough for everyone”, and “I choose to receive as well as give”.

Give thanks for the roof over your head, the food on your table, your current job, your friends and family.  Surround yourself with thoughts of abundance.  Yes, you can want more.  But learn to differentiate a want from a need.  You don’t need a new apartment.  You many want one to be more comfortable – but you don’t need it.  You may want a new job so that you may bring in more money to have more material possessions, but life is OK as it is.

As we come from a state of gratitude – we are opening ourselves to receiving more.   That is true prosperity.  As you sit in meditation, grounded to the Earth, you might want to send up a silent prayer of gratitude:

First Chakra Prayer of Gratitude

I am safe, I trust in the natural flow of life.  I take my natural place in the world content in the knowledge that all I need will come to me in the right time and space.  I am secure and grounded in the physical form and give thanks to Mother Earth for the nourishment, shelter and stability she gives me.  I am grateful for all I have and secure in the knowledge that I am living in a state of prosperity and ease.

Saber Tooth Tigers, Your First Chakra & Prosperity

Chakras are wheels of energy that literally connect our physical body to our aura.   There are seven major chakras housed inside our physical body and they each contribute in their own unique way to manifesting the life we want – a life of prosperity and abundance.  If any one of the chakras is out of alignment, then the energetic system cannot function at optimum levels.  This affects our ability to consciously create a life of abundance and prosperity.

The first chakra located at the base of the spine is all about our survival needs.  Do we have enough food, shelter, water to survive?  Our adrenal glands are associated with this charka.  When our energy is focused on meeting our basic survival needs, adrenaline is sent throughout body to give us that added boost needed to either flee the situation or fight for survival.  But in today’s world, we aren’t fighting off dinosaurs or saber toothed tigers. Instead our senses are being bombarded daily with traffic noise, TV news reports of local murders and worldwide catastrophes.

Our bodies react to all this stress, sensory overload and chaos, by producing hormones that keep us in a constant state of anxiety and fear for our personal survival.  As our body reacts to the thought of danger, it secretes adrenaline.  This hormone shoots through our body and enters our first chakra, the energy center located at the base of our spine associated with survival.  Our body tingles in anticipation, our heart races, our blood pumps and the first chakra flares open. We’ve become accustomed to this state of hyper-alert, even though we are not personally in danger.

We wonder why we can’t relax at night, why we are not sleeping and why it sometimes takes a major illness for us to stop, slow down and readjust.  We certainly are not in a state of prosperity and abundance when we are surrounded by the energies of emergency, overwhelm, chaos and fear.

I’m not suggesting that we completely unplug from the world.  But what I am suggesting is that you might think of what life would be like without some of the outside stimuli.  Do you really need to watch that particular brand of TV news?  Is there another way to be informed? What about that video game with armies, guns blazing and loud sounds?  Is that really relaxing?  Finding modes of relaxation that allow you to experience the feelings you get when you are on vacation, in a hammock during a summer afternoon, or in the company of good friends and good food, is a first step toward living in harmony and peace.

Here’s how to recognize when your first chakra is flaring.  As you sit in meditation, intend for it to open.  Then intend for it to close down.  Feel the different sensations in your body.  When your first chakra is open, you might feel the region of your lower abdomen more acutely.  You might sense the first tingles of adrenaline or a feeling of unease and discomfort, as if you have to move your body in some way.

Now intend for your first chakra to close down to about 25% open.  Think of it as an aperture on a camera and visualize it slowly shutting down. Now feel into that same space of your lower abdomen.  What sensations do you feel now?  Can you sit without fidgeting? Do you sink a little deeper into your chair as your body relaxes?  Is your breathing any different?

Learn to differentiate the wide open, flare from the closed down, soft.  Then, during the day, check in.  Once it’s flared open, you can readjust it just by thinking the thought, “I want to readjust my first chakra”.  Visualize your grounding cord carrying all the excess stimuli down to the center of the Earth.  Experiment.  As you do so, you may start to experience less chaos, overwhelm and fear.

Prosperity and abundance are primarily feeling states. And from those feeling states you manifest the physical parts of your life.  Experiment with replacing chaos, fear and overwhelm with thoughts of prosperity and abundance.  Visualize being surrounded with all that you need.  Allow the feeling-state of ease and comfort to surround you.  It takes practice to keep your first chakra out of the “flared open” position, but it is a conscious step toward living a life of prosperity.

In the coming posts we will work with the other chakras in manifesting the life of prosperity and abundance, but bringing our first chakra back from the brink of overload is the first step.

The First Chakra: Flight, Fight, Family and Stress

Chakras are spinning wheels of energy that house the energy of your thoughts and feelings.  These spinning wheels are located along the central axis of your body literally connecting your aura to your physical form.  They provide information to your endocrine system, regulating your hormones and balancing the energy within your body.  The ancients were well aware of the chakra system and wrote about chi or prana flowing throughout the body.  Western medicine is slowly coming to grips with the idea that energy flows through the body and affects our emotions and physical health.

chakraclearing1

The first chakra is located at the base of your spine and runs from the front of your body to the back of your body.  This swirling disk of energy is concerned with your body’s survival, having enough food, water, and shelter.  The energy of family and friends is a frequent occupant in this chakra.  You may hear your mother’s voice every time you sit down at the dinner table, encouraging you to finish everything on your plate.  Or you may hear your old soccer coach’s voice in your head telling you to buck up and play through your pain.  Or your father’s energy letting you know that the new home you just purchased is a little too big, a little too grand.  Using a Grounding Cord to remove all of this foreign energy from your space is a powerful way to reclaim it as your own.

The adrenal glands are associated with this chakra and send out hormones to alert the body to a potentially dangerous situation.  You may feel the area around the base of your spine flare up when you are under stress, or when you remember a dramatic event from your past.  Quite a lot of people these days are living in a constant state of alert.  Job stresses, family life, the economy, and all the violence we watch on television, keep our adrenals on hyper-alert.

So how do we calm the adrenals?  The first step is becoming aware of the stresses and their effect on the body.  The second step is doing something different!   I recommend using your grounding cord  and golden sun to remove the stresses from your body and aura.  I also find that a practice of daily meditation helps to lower the stress hormones causing damage to the adrenals.  Below is a basic short meditation you can use everyday to quiet your mind and bring your first chakra into a state of peace and calm.
