Staying Away from the Stories of What Might Have Been

As we enter the end-of-year holiday season I’d like to share some ways that I’ve found to cope with grief during this season of merriment and celebration.

Below is an excerpt and meditation from Walking in Grace with Grief Meditations for Healing After Loss. I’ve chosen a passage from the chapter Learning to Ride the Wave where I speak about how I used the energy tool of Blowing up a Rose to ride that wave of grief without allowing it to encompass me.

Defusing the power of the story allows you to return to the present, the now, the current situation without the baggage of what could have been, should have been, or wasn’t meant to be. Releasing my old stories allowed me to look at my son’s death from a new perspective. It was not about what could have been. It’s about what is—right here, right now. I still felt the pain, but it was a pain of missing Rick right here, right now. It was not about all the future things that would not be.

Walking in Grace with Grief Meditations for Healing After Loss is available on rp_Conscious-Grieving-300x208.jpgAmazon, Barnes & Noble, or have your local bookstore order it for you. There are many more energy tools featured in the book, all designed to help you grieve a different way – one full of grace and awareness.

From Victim to Joy: Our Second Chakra

15 May, 2015 — Posted in: All About Chakras, Living In Joy Leave a Comment

Exploding_Rose_2This month we are looking at the way our chakras affect our physical and emotional well-being. Chakras are wheels of energy that connect our physical body with our energy body.   If any one of the seven major chakras is out of alignment, then the energetic system cannot function at optimum levels.  This affects our ability to sustain those sought after feelings of well-being and internal peace.

Our second chakra, located in the lower abdomen is the seat of our emotions. Often this chakra is full of societal rules about how we are to behave. We are often told to “be nice” and express only those emotions that are socially acceptable. As a result, we’ve stuffed some of the not so nice, not socially acceptable, feelings deep within our second chakra. Often this stuffing results in a feeling of being trapped, unable to express our true desires. We play the role of victim shifting the responsibility to “society” or “they” instead of ourselves. We let the “I can’t” energies of our inner critic take center stage, as we repeatedly state that it’s not our fault because “they” set the rules. “They” are in charge, not us.

We know this is absurd. We know that as we think and feel we will be. We know that we are responsible for our feelings, but we are stuck in the muck of victim-hood.

When this happens to me, I realize that I have foreign energy (the shoulds, the judgments, the criticisms of others) in my space. As soon as I realize that I’m full of victim energy, I use my energy tools to remove this foreign energy from my space.

My tool of choice is Blowing Up A Rose. It’s a simple tool, one I can do anytime, anywhere and it really works.

From Victim to Joy: Blowing Up A Rose

1. Sit in a quiet place with your eyes closed. Begin by centering and grounding. On each inhale of your breath, bring more and more awareness to the center of your head. That space in the middle of your third eye is your personal sanctuary, a place of peace and stillness. On each exhale ground to the earth by imagining a cord of energy connecting your body to the center of the planet.

2. Inhale and center, exhale and ground. Feel at peace and in stillness.

3. Now, out in front of your closed eyes, visualize a rose. It can be any shape, any color. This rose has a magnetic quality to it. Energies of a particular vibration are naturally attracted to the rose. You don’t have to do anything; the rose will do all the work.

4. Imbue the rose with the intent that it will attract any victim energy that’s hanging around in your body, your mind, and your spirit. That’s all you have to do; ask the magnetized rose to draw your story to it.

5. Now watch as streams of energy begin to leave your body and head into the rose. You don’t have to do anything except watch. The rose is so powerful that it’s pulling all thoughts of “I can’t”, “They expect me to do it this way”, “Why do bad things happen to me” and “I’m not in control” out of your body. Intend for all thoughts of being the victim and not in control of your destiny to leave your body and head into the rose.

6. Watch as the rose fills up with the different streams of energy. When the rose is full, and the streams have ceased, then blow up the rose! Watch as it explodes into tiny particles of dust and disappears in front of your closed eyes.

7. Now, before you come out of meditation, you’ll want to fill in the gaps with energies that are in alignment with who you are right now. To do this, visualize a Golden Sun above your head. Ask for this Golden Sun to fill in with energies that are more in alignment with your true nature. Fill the Golden Sun with the energies of peace, self-worth, and permission to be you. Let those energies infuse the Golden Sun and watch it grow. When you’re ready, pop the Golden Sun and feel all those warm, validating energies flood into the crown of your head and then cascade throughout your body.

8. Sit with all this incredible energy for a moment, and then check to see if you feel different. Maybe you feel a little more in control of your feelings. Maybe you are a little less angry, or put upon. The rose has done its work by removing all those victim type energies from your body.

9. Now come out of meditation and stretch your body.

It’s hard to live a life full of inner contentment and peace if your second chakra is full of victim energy. So blow some roses and move into the most joy-filled energies of accepting life as it is, and going with the flow.

Blowing Roses – Demagnetizing Negative Energy

14 February, 2014 — Posted in: How To Tame Your Inner Critic Leave a Comment

rp_pinkrose_Heidi-150x150.jpgBy now you know that most of your inner critic’s dialog are the “shoulds” of the world; the statements are not truly representative of who-you-really-are.  It is foreign energy residing in your system, your aura.  Remember that what you think and feel emanates from you out into the cosmos.  One of the universal laws is this: like attracts like.

You really are a giant magnet attracting to you events and circumstances that are in alignment with your current set of thoughts and feelings.  This is why it is so critical to remove the negative self-talk and replace it with belief statements reflecting your true nature.

When I begin down the road of destructive thinking, I use a tool called Blowing Up A Rose.  (See post here). It’s fun, it’s easy and oh so very powerful.  See what you think.

Defusing the power of the story allows you to remove the negative internal dialogue and replace it with something that is more current, more who-you-really-are.

So blow some roses.  Drain out some negative self-talk.  Tap on a story that no longer holds your truth.  Spend some time clearing out the negatives that no longer work for you.  Nurture yourself.

P.S. – The Universe certainly has a sense of humor!  I hadn’t planned on the specific timing, but posting this on Valentine’s Day has a certain irony, don’t you think?

Blowing Up A Rose

6 November, 2013 — Posted in: Foundational Energy Tools 1 Comment

open roses

Our inner critic’s voice is a mixture of all the foreign energy (the “shoulds,” expectations, judgments, and criticisms) we’ve accepted as our own truth. By cleaning these energies out of our space, we make room for our own Spirit’s voice to be heard. Some of this foreign energy is leaving via our grounding cord, some of it is removed by tapping on our meridian points, and some of it we can call out of our body and explode into tiny bits of energetic dust. Follow along as I demonstrate how to blow up a rose.

Exercise:  Blowing Roses

1. Close your eyes and take a couple of deep breaths. Imagine a rose floating in front of your closed eyes. It can be any color, any shape, and any size. In fact, if you don’t like roses, then pick another flower or any symbol that feels comfortable to you.

2. Next, visualize a giant magnet in the middle of this rose.

3. Recall one of the phrases on your name web that is no longer true for you. Perhaps it was something like, “I am so stupid,” and you remember a certain subject in school that never made sense to you.

4. Acknowledge that the story, “I’m so stupid,” is false. You may not have understood the subject matter of a certain class, but that doesn’t make you stupid.

5. Ask the magnet in your rose to pull your story toward it. Watch as each piece of your story leaves your body and moves away from you and into the rose. Watch the streams of color as they leave your heart, your throat, and your mind. Watch as the colors move into the rose. See how the rose grows bigger and bigger as the story sticks to the magnet. Feel yourself growing lighter and lighter as all this excess baggage leaves your energy field.

6. When the magnet has removed as much of your negative story or self-talk as you can, then blow up that rose. Watch it disintegrate and feel the story disintegrate too.

7. Now that you’ve removed some foreign energy, you’ll want to fill in the gaps with energies that are in alignment with who you are right now. To do this, visualize a Golden Sun above your head. Ask for this Golden Sun to fill in with all your own life force that you’ve left scattered in past or future events. Visualize bits of energy filling up this Golden Sun. Next, add some self-validation, worthiness, peace, or whatever energy feels good to you at this moment. Let those energies infuse the Golden Sun, and watch it grow in size. When you’re ready, pop the Golden Sun and feel all those warm, validating energies flood into the crown of your head and then cascade throughout your body.

8. Sit with all this wonderful energy for a moment, and then come out of meditation.

You may have noticed that the energy coming into the rose was full of color. All energy (including thoughts and feelings) is continually vibrating and assumes the color belonging to that specific rate of vibration. Different energies vibrate at different rates.

Anger, frustration and resistance vibrate at a lower rate than joy, peace or love. You might be “feeling blue” or “seeing red” which are on the lower end of the vibration spectrum. On the other hand you might see joy as a sunny yellow or love as a soft pink, and you might feel those energies vibrating at a higher rate.

Part of the work we will do in healing your inner critic is ferreting out some of the lower vibrational energies, replacing them with higher vibrations more in alignment with your Spirit. Begin to notice what the energy of peace looks like to you. Maybe it is soft pink, or pale sea-foam green. Check out the color of worthiness. Maybe you see a pale yellow or a light fleck of color reminiscent of a rainbow. Each person interprets this marriage of color to emotion differently, so begin to understand your color palette of emotions and their corresponding energies.

As you move out the lower vibrational energies by blowing up a rose, tapping, or sending the energy down your grounding cord, you defuse the power of a story you’ve been telling yourself. You replace the negative internal dialogue with energies that are more current, more who-you-really-are.

So blow up some roses. Stomp on some negative self-talk. Tap on a story that no longer holds your truth. Spend some time clearing out the negatives that no longer work for you. Nurture yourself.
