“To better understand the Law of Attraction, see yourself as a magnet attracting unto you the essence of that which you are thinking and feeling. And so, if you are feeling fat, you cannot attract thin. If you feel poor, you cannot attract prosperity, and so on. It defies Law.” Abraham
I started re-reading The Law of Attraction, The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham by Esther and Jerry Hicks. It’s interesting what you glean when you re-read things. Maybe I’m just ready to receive more of the teachings, as things are so much clearer to me this time around. I’ve been focusing on outward expression for so long, bringing my will and effort to things, in the hopes that this type of attention will change my circumstances. But of course, that’s not the case. As Abraham says, it’s what you are thinking and feeling that counts the most, not the effort you bring to it, or the attention you give it.
So how are you feeling about money? What thoughts are running through your mind? Are you full of lack and fear, or joy and acceptance?
If you’ve kept a log of your money dialogue (see previous post), then you’ll understand the current energy of your money space. No judgment allowed. This is about understanding where you are and then choosing differently.
But how do you choose differently?
Here’s how: first, become conscious of the thought or feeling that you want to change. Second, recognize that the underlying story or emotion behind the thought is the real culprit. Remember the story. Remember the words spoken in judgment, or the expectation handed down from your parent. Bring that story up from the basement of your subconscious and into the light of your awareness. Writing out the story may help to bring all the pieces into focus.
Most people stop here. They’ve worked only part of the equation. Remember that thoughts and feelings are like energetic sticky notes! Your inner critic voice, and particularly your inner dialogue around money, is probably just a mash-up of all the judgments, expectations and “shoulds” of your parents, neighbors, and friends that you’ve taken into your body and aura and accepted as your own truth. Shine your light of awareness on your money story. See if what you “believe” about money is really a true statement or if you’ve just taken on someone else’s baggage and accepted it as your own.
As an example, let’s say that you believe that you’ll never have enough money. Deep down in your core, you believe that you will never be “well off”.
Where did that belief come from? Is it something you really believe or something left over from a dinner table conversation during your childhood? Were you raised in a household where there wasn’t enough to go around? Did your parents use phrases like “we’re just getting by” or “we can’t afford that”. Maybe you remember the times your parents scraped together the change to take a trip to see a family member in need, all the while, worrying about taking time off from work and losing that week’s pay. Maybe you just felt this energy of lack and worry and doubt permeate your life.
Write out the story and then use your tools. Tap on the story, ground it out, blow it up in a rose.
That’s how we are different! We can actually move the energy and the emotion out of our systems. We can recognize that the story is not ours – it’s our parents’ story that we’ve taken on as our own.
Your life is different. You are different. As you remove the energy of lack from your body and aura, you expand the opportunities for your own money energy to flow. Yes, your budget is the same and your paycheck remains the same, but your attitude is different. You’ve opened up the energy pathways and allowed a new level of flow and ease. Now watch as your outer world begins to shift into alignment with your inner world.
Your thoughts are giant magnets drawing to you events and circumstances of the same energetic family. Think expansiveness, think ease, think joy. As Abraham says, if you feel poor that’s the energy you will attract. So think and feel prosperity and abundance. Be in a space of flow when you think “money”.
